The study estimated the total social housing’s cost over a 50 years period in the Paris area, separating the different direct costs, what construction, financing, maintenance and repair account for, and what usage ( electricity, water, garbage collection, other running expenses) stands for<\/p>\n

Working groups with discussions on the basis of this study’s results were held, engaging a wide range of social housing and construction’s experts, and community life professionals, to bring focus on 3 main topics:<\/p>\n
– The design of a specific total cost’s modelling tool for housing construction projects, adapted to various legal contexts (co-elaboration, design and delivery, engineering, designing, building, installing- design and execution contracts\u2026etc, monitoring of the completion of the objectives to be achieved) : this tool will help estimating the potential gap between the low income households financial resources and the future housing projects costs<\/p>\n
– Working groups aimed at realizing a business model analysis and identified the potential areas of cost savings in the whole range of housing costs items, with the help of a total cost’s\u00a0 approach (financing, energy, caretaking, maintenance, community life, structural works and enclosure)<\/p>\n
– The objective was to provide low income families and poor housed households with an affordable housing offer adapted to their financial resources. These debates gathered a broad range of housing experts (architects, social landlords, non-for-profit associations, social housing managers, professionals of the construction and the hotel industry) to design a new housing concept : a mixed age housing facility catering to three generations with single-parents families, low income adults, young workers and elderly people<\/p>\n
– Another crucial point is to secure housing stability and provide a permanent, affordable home with supportive services to low-income people in optimizing the building and maintenance costs with an estimation of the future tenants needs<\/p>\n
We\u2019re entering the operational phase of this project, with the aim of experimenting various construction projects in Normandy, in the Lyon and Paris area.<\/p>\n
